CONTEXT
Internal communication in MSF is vitally important and relates directly to the foundation of our organization: the people – staff, managers and volunteers. Together we are the cornerstone of MSF and make it possible to pursue our main goal: providing medical care to people in need.
The Internal Communications Unit of the Operational Centre Brussels (one of the 7 Operational Centres of MSF) ensures the internal communications flow within HQ and with colleagues in our project countries.
We are looking for a motivated Internal Communications Intern to join our team in Brussels. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in staff communications within an international humanitarian organization. You will support the team in maintaining and improving internal communication channels, ensuring content is engaging and inclusive.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the responsibility of the Head of Internal Communications, you will in charge of several tasks:
Intranet Management
- Updating and publishing content on the intranet
- Adapting content to inclusive language following advisory guidelines
- Maintaining page style consistency and fixing broken links
- Creating articles and adapting visuals
- Supporting inclusive language updates across the intranet
- Assisting with translations of static pages (French/English), ensuring quality checks by native speakers.
- Managing the OCB Intranet mailbox: handling access requests, troubleshooting common issues, and managing approval workflows
- Collecting and organizing feedback, sharing insights with relevant teams, and tracking feedback statistics
Content and Editorial Support
- Keeping editorial planning calendar up to date with external and internal events
- Assisting with the Operations bi-weekly updates
- Contributing to the internal staff newsletter
- Gathering and uploading HR information for internal communications (“comings & goings” on the intranet, the Who is Who publication, and the trombinoscope
- Reviewing department newsletters for ideas and inspiration
- Exploring the possibility of producing short videos
Ad hoc support
- Organization of events, MSF Shop, library management
REQUIREMENTS
Competencies
- Strong interest in communications, media, or related fields
- Excellent writing and editing skills in English and/or French
- Precise, autonomous, curious and proactive
- Comfortable with digital tools
- Experience with graphic design and video editing is an asset
Languages
- Proficiency in English and French, both written and spoken

CONDITIONS
- Expected starting date: as soon as possible
- Contract type: Unpaid Internship / Internship with mandatory agreement from a school/training institution
- Place of work: Brussels, Belgium*
*Due to legal administrative constraints, future interns must already reside in Belgium with the right to stay and study in Belgium within a Belgian study establishment; or reside in Europe as part of studies in a European study establishment (accepting that the internship is carried out in another European country), have a right of residence and study in Europe and be ready to move and find accommodation in Belgium for the duration of the internship at their own expense
- Length: 3 to 5 months (3 to 4 days a week)
